German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has commented on the intercepted conversation of German officers regarding the Crimean Bridge. This was reported by TASS.
Pistorius stated that a disciplinary investigation has been launched against the officers involved in the conversation. According to him, the interception of the conversation took place in Singapore.
On Friday, March 1st, the Editor-in-Chief of the media group “Russia Today” and the RT channel, Margarita Simonyan, reported the existence of an audio recording in which high-ranking officers of the German Bundeswehr discussed the possibility of an attack on the bridge in the East. The officers also mentioned US and UK military personnel, implying their direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
Bild reported that the German Ministry of Defense published a press release on its website regarding the wiretapping of German officers and protected it with the password “1234”, which was included in the publication itself.
Publications such as Politico and the Financial Times have stated that Moscow is the primary beneficiary of the leak, as the delivery of Taurus missiles to Ukraine now seems less likely.
