In a disturbing turn of events, a California man has been charged with the murder of his wife and her mother, after reporting them missing back in September. Phuc Vo, 40, now faces two counts of murder in the slayings of Tho Ly, 40, and her 74-year-old mother, Que Tran. However, authorities have yet to locate the bodies of the victims and have not revealed the method by which they were killed.
Vo initially filed a missing persons report on September 13, 2023, claiming that both women had disappeared a week prior. According to his account, they had left their home in a 2017 Honda Fit after a family argument, intending to travel to Southern California. Yet, investigators have been unable to corroborate this information.
During the course of the investigation, detectives uncovered inconsistencies in Vo’s statement regarding the women’s vehicle. In fact, on December 5, 2023, authorities spotted him driving the same vehicle in Oakland. It was at this point that Vo became a person of interest in connection with the missing persons case.
On February 29, investigators executed a search of Vo’s home, leading to his subsequent arrest. Neighbors reported witnessing law enforcement officials digging up the yard, further adding to the gravity of the situation. Vo is currently being held without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility, as indicated by jail records.
