New Russian Tank T-14 ‘Armata’ Outperforms Others, But Too Expensive for Military Use, Says Rostec CEO

The Latest Russian Tank T-14 “Armata” Outperforms Existing Tanks, But Unlikely to Be Used in Special Military Operations

In a recent statement to RIA Novosti, the CEO of Rostec State Corporation, Sergei Chemezov, highlighted that the newest Russian tank, the T-14 “Armata,” surpasses existing tanks in terms of its characteristics. However, due to its high cost, it is unlikely to be used in special military operations, as it would be more practical for the army to acquire less expensive tanks like the T-90.

Chemezov acknowledged that the “Armata” outperforms its predecessors in terms of functionality but emphasized its high cost as a limiting factor for its current use. He stated that it would be simpler and more cost-effective to purchase the T-90 tanks instead.

The CEO of Rostec also emphasized the need for funding to develop new weaponry. According to Chemezov, financial resources are required to create new tanks and armaments that may be comparatively cheaper.

However, Chemezov confirmed that the “Armata” is currently part of the Russian army’s arsenal.

In September 2023, Victor Murakhovsky, a Russian military expert and editor-in-chief of the journal “Arsenal Otechestva,” stated that the T-14 “Armata” would undergo further improvements before entering mass production.

Previously, a German general made predictions regarding the advancement of Russian forces in Ukraine.
