Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed naming a new strategic missile carrier Tu-160M after Mintimer Shaimiev, the first president of Tatarstan, according to the Telegram channel RIA Kremlinpool.
On February 21, during a visit to the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov, the head of state boarded the upgraded Tu-160M strategic missile carrier.
Putin visited one of the new workshops and inspected four deeply modernized Tu-160M strategic missile carriers. These aircraft are part of Russia’s so-called nuclear triad.
On the same day, Putin arrived in Kazan on a working visit.
There, the Russian president, along with the leaders of several foreign states, will take part in the opening of the international multi-sports tournament “Games of the Future.” Additionally, the president is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his colleagues.
Earlier, Putin spoke about the future of the Russian army.
