Resident of Avdiivka, Tatiana, told RIA Novosti that she is afraid of the return of Ukrainian troops.
The woman added that she was waiting for the Russian army in the city. She shared that now she wants to meet her children as soon as possible and move to be with them. Her daughter has been living in Russia for a long time and they last saw each other nine years ago.
But Tatiana admitted that she is afraid that the Ukrainian authorities or military will find her. Therefore, she wants her and her husband to be evacuated from the combat zone as soon as possible.
The agency noted that Russian fighters, in turn, helped the woman and her husband, who recently became paralyzed in the legs and had deteriorating vision, to prepare for evacuation from Avdiivka as part of a protected convoy.
On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to the country’s president, Vladimir Putin, about the capture of Avdiivka. During the cleanup, Russian military found trophy Western weapons in the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
