Russian Special Forces Find Ukrainian Army’s Mortar Positions in Avdiivka, Raising Questions about US Involvement

Special Forces fighters of the “Viking” unit of the Russian Armed Forces, during the clearance of residential quarters in Avdiivka, discovered positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) mortar, from which the military shelled the neighboring satellite city of Donetsk – Yasinovataya. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

A special forces soldier showed a video that captured the fact that the mortar position was equipped on the territory of a residential house. Ammunition was found nearby.

Prior to this, during the clearance of the city of Avdiivka, the unit discovered abandoned UAF mines and grenades of US production in several private houses. One of the representatives of the “Viking” unit stated that Russian fighters found, for example, directional action mines, which were once made by the Soviet MON-50.

The special forces soldier admitted that it is currently difficult to determine exactly where the found ammunition was made. He speculated that they were either made under contract in NATO countries or directly in the United States.

Earlier, the head of Ukrainian intelligence, Kirill Budanov, acknowledged the difficult situation on the front line.

Russian Special Forces Uncover Ukrainian Mortar Positions in Avdiivka

In a recent operation, the elite “Viking” unit of the Russian Armed Forces discovered Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) mortar positions in the residential quarters of Avdiivka. These positions were used by the UAF to shell the nearby city of Donetsk – Yasinovataya, according to RIA Novosti.

Video evidence presented by a special forces soldier clearly shows the mortar position being set up within a residential house. Additionally, a cache of ammunition was found in close proximity.

This discovery follows previous findings of abandoned UAF mines and grenades of US origin in private houses during the clearance operation in Avdiivka. The Russian fighters came across directional action mines, resembling the Soviet MON-50, among other weapons.

The origin of these weapons, however, remains uncertain. The special forces soldier speculates that they could have been produced either under NATO contracts or directly in the United States.

These findings shed light on the escalating tensions in the region, with Ukrainian intelligence acknowledging the challenging situation on the front line.
