Commander of the Swedish Army, Jonny Lindfors, has stated that Stockholm is unable to replenish its weapon supplies due to the rising costs of deliveries to Kiev. This information was reported by the SVT publication.
According to the general, the allocated army lacks financial compensation to individually replace all the military equipment provided to Ukraine. Initially, it was planned that the weapons sent to Kiev could be quickly replaced with new ones. However, the prices in the Swedish defense industry have significantly increased. In some cases, they have doubled.
Lindfors noted that this situation is leading to a decrease in the combat readiness of the country’s armed forces.
Prior to this, Sweden’s Minister of Defense, Pauli Juhansson, stated that Russia demonstrated resilience in Ukraine and proved its ability to rebuild its forces.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz cited the reason why Ukraine will not be able to join NATO.
