Russian Military Intercepts 124 Ukrainian Drones in Latest Escalation – Is Ukraine Compensating for Ammo Shortage?

In the past 24 hours, Russian military intercepted 124 Ukrainian drones. This information was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the agency, the unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted in the areas of Mirnoye in the Zaporizhia region, Lozovo and Klyucheve in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Podgornoye, Novoegorovka, and Kremennaya in the Luhansk People’s Republic.

Prior to this, military expert Alexei Leonkov stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would try to compensate for the lack of ammunition by using cheap FPV drones in large numbers on the front line.

He said that the focus is primarily on target designation UAVs, which are also used as kamikaze drones. In the current realities of the conflict zone, it is more practical to hunt down the control points of UAVs rather than targeting each individual drone, which can be numerous.

Leonkov added that compared to conventional artillery, the effectiveness of drone usage is low, at around 40%.

Earlier, drones named “Zhirinovsky” were spotted in the self-proclaimed republics.
