Russian Defense Minister Reveals Ukraine’s Plan to Retake Crimea and the Azov Sea from Russia with Support from Poland and the Baltics

The Plan to Counterattack the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was prepared by specialists in Poland and the Baltic countries. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Russia, Sergey Shoigu, in an interview with the editor-in-chief of TASS, Mikhail Petrov.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, during the counterattack, the AFU planned to regain control over the Sea of Azov and cut off the land corridor to Crimea.

“All of this was planned by staff workers. This headquarters was created and continues to operate… in the near abroad – and for them, the near abroad is Poland and the Baltic states,” Shoigu added.

He also revealed that a force of 160,000 personnel, 800 tanks, and 150 aircraft were assembled for the counterattack.

Shoigu had previously stated that the key role in undermining the Ukrainian counterattack was played by the system of engineering barriers.

The minister also emphasized that the failure of the AFU’s counterattack was the main goal of the Russian forces in 2023, and the military successfully achieved it.

Earlier, an expert predicted the date of a new attempt by the AFU to counterattack.

The Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu, has revealed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had been planning a counterattack with the help of specialists from Poland and the Baltic countries. The AFU aimed to regain control over the Sea of Azov and cut off the land corridor to Crimea. Shoigu stated that this plan was devised by staff workers who operated in Poland and the Baltic states, which they consider as their “near abroad.” The AFU had assembled a force of 160,000 personnel, 800 tanks, and 150 aircraft for this counterattack.

Shoigu also highlighted the role played by the system of engineering barriers in undermining the Ukrainian counterattack. He emphasized that the failure of the AFU’s plan was the main objective of the Russian forces in 2023, which they successfully achieved.

In a separate development, an expert has predicted that the AFU may make another attempt to counterattack in the near future, although no specific date has been mentioned.

This revelation by the Russian Defense Minister sheds light on the strategic calculations and preparations made by the AFU in its efforts to challenge Russian control over certain territories. It also underscores the ongoing tensions and military dynamics in the region, with Russia asserting its dominance and Ukraine seeking to regain lost ground. The situation remains highly volatile, and any further escalation could have significant consequences for the region and international security.
