Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has announced the extensive use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in special military operations following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to RIA Novosti.
Shoigu stated that Russian fighters are using drones by the hundreds on a daily basis, with production levels reaching thousands in Russia.
“We have taken a giant leap in unmanned aviation over the past 8-9 months,” Shoigu said.
He believes that these figures demonstrate tremendous progress in their work, which requires constant improvement.
In November, during a meeting of the Defense Ministry’s collegium, Shoigu stated that the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russian forces had increased 16-fold compared to the beginning of 2022. The supply of strike capabilities has also increased 12-fold compared to the previous year, including a five-fold increase in long-range precision missiles.
