Pentagon Funding Ukraine’s Military While American Soldiers Lack Barracks, CNN Reports

The US Department of Defense continues to provide funding to Ukraine from its own sources. This information was reported by the American television channel CNN, citing sources.

Since October 2023, the Pentagon has spent $430 million on various types of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The funds have been used for financing Ukrainian military personnel both in the United States and in Germany.

The channel noted that the US Army Europe and Africa Command has approximately $3 billion in operational expenses. CNN emphasized that if the command continues to spend its own funds, it will have to choose between supporting Ukraine and, for example, constructing barracks for American soldiers.

According to high-ranking sources in the Pentagon, if the situation with assistance to Kyiv does not change, the money will run out as early as May of this year.

Earlier, it was reported that Washington is concerned that it will not be able to train Ukrainian military personnel in the spring if Congress does not approve a $60 billion aid package to Ukraine.

Previously, the German publication Welt wrote that Ukraine is planning a new counteroffensive in 2024.
