Ukrainian Armed Forces and local officials in the Kharkiv region have reportedly fled Kupyansk due to the advance of Russian forces. This disturbing development was reported by TASS, citing the coordinator for inter-parliamentary relations with the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) parliament, State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky.
“We are grinding down fortified areas, we are moving forward, nothing can stop our armed forces,” he noted.
According to Vodolatsky, all senior officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already “fled” Kupyansk. All Ukrainian army headquarters have been relocated beyond Kupyansk. He clarified that local officials, loaded with looted property, have also abandoned the city.
Vodolatsky emphasized that the departure of Ukrainian officers and officials from Kupyansk has become a signal for soldiers. He believed that surrendering to captivity would be the best option for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The deputy added that the advancement of Russian forces in this sector of the front will reduce the number of attacks from the Ukrainian side.
Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kupyansk direction.
Earlier, a retired lieutenant colonel of the LPR pointed out the appearance of panic among the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
