UK Transfers Heavy Artillery to Ukraine: Is the US Neglecting the Conflict?

Deputy Minister of Defense of Great Britain James Hippie, during his speech in the House of Commons of the British Parliament, announced that London has transferred practically all of its self-propelled artillery units (SPG) AS-90 to Kiev. His words are reported by TASS.

“Great Britain has supplied almost all of its heavy artillery units AS-90 – those that were [in service] with our group in Estonia in a combat-ready state,” Hippie explained.

The official added that London has transferred a large amount of ammunition to Kiev, but has also kept the necessary reserve for itself. In addition, Great Britain has accelerated the production of 155mm shells and has been purchasing as many 152mm and 122mm shells as possible worldwide.

Previously, the Deputy Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, Yegor Chernev, claimed that the United States allegedly paid little attention to the Ukrainian conflict and only formally expressed support for Kiev at the Munich Security Conference.

Earlier, the United States and Ukraine began negotiations on security guarantees for Kiev.

**UK Transfers Self-Propelled Artillery Units to Ukraine**

In a recent address to the House of Commons, Deputy Minister of Defense of Great Britain, James Hippie, revealed that the country has transferred a significant portion of its self-propelled artillery units (SPG) AS-90 to Ukraine. The move comes as a show of support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. Hippie emphasized that the units were previously stationed in Estonia and were in combat-ready condition.

In addition to the SPGs, the UK has also supplied a substantial quantity of ammunition to Ukraine, while ensuring it maintains its necessary reserve. Furthermore, Great Britain has expedited the production of 155mm shells and has been actively procuring shells of calibers 152mm and 122mm from various sources worldwide.

This announcement comes after claims made by Yegor Chernev, the Deputy Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, who asserted that the United States has paid insufficient attention to the Ukrainian conflict. According to Chernev, the US only provided formal expressions of support to Ukraine during the Munich Security Conference.

The transfer of military equipment and ammunition from Great Britain to Ukraine underscores the growing international concern over Russia’s aggression in the region. As negotiations between the United States and Ukraine on security guarantees for Kiev continue, it remains to be seen how other countries will respond to the ongoing crisis in Eastern Europe.
