Russian Pilot Who Stole Helicopter to Ukraine Found Dead in Spain; Drugs and Alcohol Problems Revealed

Representative of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) Andriy Yusov has announced that Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov, who hijacked a Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine, was found dead in Spain. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Politics of the Country”.

According to the publication, Kuzminov was shot at least 12 times before being run over by a car. It is noted that Kuzminov had been having problems with drugs and alcohol recently.

“The body was discovered in a cottage settlement by a neighbor last Tuesday, February 13, at around five o’clock in the evening in the city of La Villa Joyosa in the province of Alicante,” the statement said.

The authors emphasize that Kuzminov’s death has not been officially confirmed.

Prior to this, the head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, revealed new details related to the crew of the hijacked Mi-8 helicopter.

According to him, two members of the crew who were on board the helicopter with Maxim Kuzminov were unaware of his intentions until the last moment.

Earlier, it was reported that the members of the Mi-8 crew had been having friendly gatherings before the hijacking to Ukraine.
