Russian Spies Caught Collaborating with Ukrainian Government Forces: FSB Uncovers Espionage Operation in LNR

Employees of the FSB in the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) have announced that they have arrested two residents of Novoaidar who have been spying for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) since the beginning of 2022. This was reported by TASS citing the press service of the department.

According to the FSB, since the beginning of 2022, the detainees have been cooperating with representatives of the SBU to assist the Ukrainian military. The department stated that they collected and transmitted data on the locations and routes of movement of Russian Armed Forces personnel and military equipment involved in a special military operation. The FSB claimed that the suspects transferred the data to a Ukrainian intelligence officer through instant messengers.

As a result, the individuals were apprehended. Investigators from the Republican FSB have initiated a criminal case on charges of espionage.

Prior to this, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced an international search for the handler of an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Sergey Karmazin, a suspect in a case of preparing a terrorist attack in the Moscow region. According to his testimony, the handler turned out to be a Ukrainian citizen named Alexander Kalachev. The criminal has been placed on federal and international wanted lists.

Earlier, the Russian citizen was convicted of treason as a teenager.
