President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, stated to journalist Pavel Zarubin that Russia is ready for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine if the West wants it. A snippet of the interview was published in Zarubin’s Telegram channel.
According to the Russian president, Moscow resorted to military measures after receiving requests for help from the residents of Donbass. However, Russia wanted to resolve the conflict peacefully even after the start of the special operation, but Kiev was not prepared for such a development of events.
“If the West wants a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, Russia is ready,” Putin noted.
Earlier, Putin stated that Moscow had hoped to gradually implement the Minsk agreements, but the other side had no intention of doing so. Therefore, he did not make the decision to start the special operation earlier.
According to him, Moscow regretted not taking active measures in Ukraine earlier, but it had been trying to resolve the conflict peacefully for a long time.
