The liberation of Avdiivka by the Armed Forces of Russia is a major victory in a special military operation. This was reported by the American television channel Fox News.
At the same time, the channel noted that the surrender of the town occurred against the backdrop of a severe shortage of ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as difficulties in providing assistance from the United States.
Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna accused Western countries at the Munich Security Conference of forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to leave Avdiivka.
On February 17, Commander-in-Chief of the UAF, Alexander Syrsky, announced that Ukrainian Armed Forces units would be withdrawn from Avdiivka due to the impending encirclement of the garrison in the city. The fighting for the city, located 600 km from Kyiv and home to about 30,000 people until 2022, lasted for several months.
Previously, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs lit a cigarette on live television against the backdrop of the withdrawal of the UAF from Avdiivka.
