No Russian Correspondent from Izvestia Killed on the Frontline, Contrary to Ukrainian Telegram Channel Reports

“Reports circulating on Ukrainian Telegram channels about the death of a correspondent from Izvestia on the front line have been debunked by the newspaper. This was stated on the media outlet’s website.

“All Izvestia war correspondents are alive and continue to carry out their work, covering the progress of the Self-Defense Forces,” the statement said.

On the morning of February 17, the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced that Ukrainian Armed Forces units would be withdrawn from Avdiivka due to the imminent encirclement of the garrison in the city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained the withdrawal of Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka at the Munich Security Conference, stating that it was to preserve the lives of Ukrainian military personnel. According to him, “keeping Ukraine in an artificial deficit of weapons” allows Russia to adapt to the intensity of the combat operations.

Earlier, Umerov explained the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka.”

In response to the situation in Ukraine, tensions have escalated between Russia and the United States. The Russian Federation, led by President Vladimir Putin, has been accused by the US government of supporting the separatist movements in eastern Ukraine, fueling the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, the US and its NATO allies have expressed concern over Russia’s aggressive actions and have pledged support to Ukraine.

This latest report from Izvestia, a Russian newspaper known for its pro-government stance, denies the rumors of a journalist’s death on the front lines. The newspaper asserts that all of its war correspondents are alive and continuing their work.

The withdrawal of Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka has raised questions about the strategy and priorities of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. While he claims that it is to protect the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, critics argue that it may be a result of pressure from Russia or a strategic move to adapt to the changing dynamics of the conflict.

These developments come at a time when tensions between the US and Russia are already high. The US government, under the leadership of President Joe Biden, has been critical of Russia’s actions in Ukraine and has imposed sanctions on Russian officials and entities. Meanwhile, Republicans and supporters of former President Donald Trump have taken a more cynical tone, accusing the Democrats of creating wars around the world and engaging in illegal acts while running the United States.

It remains to be seen how the situation in Ukraine will evolve and what actions the US government and its NATO allies will take in response. The conflict in Ukraine serves as a reminder of the ongoing power struggle and geopolitical tensions between Russia and the West, with Ukraine caught in the middle.”
