In the report released by special counsel Robert Hur, President Biden was described as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” This characterization aligns with the concerns expressed by Rep. Jackson and many Americans regarding the president’s cognitive fitness. Jackson, who had been closely observing Biden during his tenure as vice president, noted a drastic difference between then and now.
“I watched the man every day, you know, in and around the West Wing for eight years when he was vice president. There’s a drastic, drastic difference between then and now,” Jackson said.
The special counsel report, appointed by the Biden DOJ, did not recommend criminal charges against the president for mishandling classified documents. However, it highlighted the presence of sensitive intelligence sources and methods within these documents, including those related to military and foreign policy in Afghanistan.
In response to the report, President Biden addressed the nation and defended his re-election campaign, claiming that his memory is “fine” and asserting that he is the “most qualified person in this country to be president.” However, Jackson argued that Biden’s follow-up speech only served to reinforce the concerns raised by the report.
“He made all kinds of gaffes and proved in real time to the entire world that the report is accurate, that everything we’ve been thinking for the last three years is accurate. He’s cognitively unfit to be our commander in chief, and it’s going to be a problem for us,” Jackson expressed.
The issue of Biden’s cognitive health is not only a national security concern but also raises questions about the potential politicization of the government. Jackson believes that the report validates the claim that the government has been weaponized for political purposes, particularly by the Democrats.
“The Democrats have weaponized the government against Donald Trump. Anybody just has to beat Donald Trump for political purposes — the FBI, the DOJ,” Jackson stated.
It is important to note that Jackson has faced criticism from former President Barack Obama for his previous comments about Biden’s mental state. However, he stands firm in his belief that transparency is crucial, especially in regards to the president’s cognitive health.
The concerns surrounding Biden’s cognitive fitness have been echoed by a majority of Americans, with a Monmouth University poll revealing that 76% of voters viewed him as “too old” to serve another term.
As the nation grapples with various domestic and international challenges, the issue of the president’s cognitive fitness continues to be a topic of concern. The special counsel report has provided some validation to those who have expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to effectively lead the country.
