Russia Expands Radar Field to Counter Low-Altitude Drones

Russia is strengthening its radar capabilities to monitor low-altitude drones, including in dangerous areas, according to Deputy CEO of VKO “Almaz-Antey” Dmitry Savitsky in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Savitsky stated that the radar field is now significantly wider than it was before the start of the special operation in Ukraine. Over time, it has expanded further in areas where threats persist.

The expert added that the radar field now encompasses the Russian capital, allowing for the timely detection and elimination of enemy drones. He noted that this field is primarily built on various radar systems developed by “Almaz-Antey.”

It was recently announced that new Russian weapons and military equipment, including drones, will be granted export permits starting in 2024. Last year, export permits were issued for around 30 military products, including advanced communication and surveillance systems, ammunition, targeting and observation systems, the unified automation and communication system “Nabat,” armored vehicles such as the Z-STS “Akhmat,” and the domestically produced armored vehicle “Typhoon-K.”

Previously, Russia developed a new system for drone suppression.
