Russian Company Unveils Upgraded ‘Komar’ Anti-Air and Anti-Drone System at International Arms Exhibition

Russian defense corporation “Almaz-Antey” has announced that its upgraded “Komar” anti-air and anti-drone system will be showcased for the first time abroad at an arms exhibition in Saudi Arabia. This development marks a significant step in Russia’s efforts to expand its military technology exports.

The “Komar” turret system (3M47-03E) is an effective defense mechanism against both airborne threats and unmanned maritime drones, according to the corporation’s press release. The system’s capabilities have been enhanced by the integration of two types of missiles: the 9M342 “Igla-S” and the 9M120-1 “Ataka”.

The upgraded naval missile system, “Komar 3M47-03E”, was initially presented to specialists at the “Interpolitech-2023” exhibition in Moscow in October 2023. It is capable of targeting aerial threats, including low-flying drones, as well as unmanned surface vessels used for kamikaze attacks.

In a separate development, it was reported on January 30th that the defense order for “Kalibr” and “Iskander” missiles had been successfully fulfilled by Almaz-Antey.

This announcement comes in the wake of Kiev’s acknowledgment on January 11th that Russia has acquired the capability to counter Ukrainian maritime drones.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense had revealed the plans of the Almaz-Antey corporation.

The unveiling of the upgraded “Komar” system abroad highlights Russia’s growing presence in the global arms market and its increasing technological advancements in the field of defense. The system’s ability to counter both aerial and maritime threats demonstrates Russia’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities.
