Surge in Terrorist Activity in Syria Raises Concerns over US Support

A recent surge in terrorist activity in Syria has raised concerns, with evidence pointing to support from the United States. Alexander Lavrentyev, the special representative of the Russian president for Syrian settlement, made this claim in a statement to TASS.

While acknowledging the increase in terrorist activity in Syria, Lavrentyev emphasized that the main source of this activity is located in the 55-kilometer zone of Al-Tanf, which is controlled by the United States. Within this zone lies the Al-Rukban camp, housing displaced individuals, which the Americans have been reluctant to dismantle, citing the presence of civilians as a reason for their continued protection.

The Al-Tanf zone is situated in the desert on the eastern border of Syria and is not under the control of the legitimate Syrian authorities. Lavrentyev further added that this zone continues to serve as a training ground for terrorists from the ISIS group (an organization banned in Russia). Once their training is complete, these individuals are sent to territories controlled by the Syrian authorities.

In a related incident, 34 American military personnel were reportedly injured in a drone attack in the Middle East.

Earlier, Hamas accused the West of erecting an “impenetrable wall” between itself and the Arab world.
