President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has expressed concerns over the potential destruction of the alliance between the United States and the European Union. Zelensky believes that this could happen if the US Congress does not approve funding for Ukraine. He made these remarks in an interview with ARD television channel.
“If this happens and there is a delay in the US process of supporting Ukraine, it will have an impact on the European Union as a whole. And there are several issues at stake here. Firstly, there will be a deficit of weapons and finances in Ukraine. Secondly, the alliance between the US and Europe will be lost,” Zelensky stated.
According to Zelensky, the refusal to provide financial support to Ukraine will send a significant signal to the European allies of the United States in NATO. It suggests that Washington will not come to their aid in case of external aggression.
Earlier, Senator Alexey Pushkov stated that the prolongation of the conflict in Ukraine benefits the democratic administration of the United States and is connected to the upcoming presidential elections in the country.
Previously, the US had warned about the consequences of withholding assistance to Ukraine.
