In a significant development during the ongoing conflict in Gaza, a US military outpost in Jordan has been targeted in a nocturnal drone attack, resulting in over twenty US soldiers sustaining injuries, three of which are life-threatening, according to a report by CNN.
This incident marks the first time since the beginning of the war in Gaza that the US Armed Forces have suffered casualties as a result of enemy shelling.
The attack took place at a base located near the Syrian border. Officials have stated that the drone was launched by Iran-backed militants and presumably originated from Syria.
President Joe Biden has vowed to hold those responsible for the attack accountable, emphasizing that the circumstances surrounding the assault are still being investigated.
“We have no doubt – we will hold all responsible parties accountable, in a manner and at a time of our choosing,” stated the American President.
Prior to this incident, the Central Command of the Pentagon had reported that several US military personnel may have been injured during the shelling of the Ain al-Asad US base in western Iraq.
Earlier, Shia groups had announced their involvement in attacks on three US military bases in Iraq and Syria.
