Ukrainian Armed Forces Struggle with Management and Training, Former Commander Reveals

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are facing difficulties in management and training of mobilized troops, with military personnel in training centers indulging in alcohol consumption. Former commander of the fourth platoon of the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the UAF, Nikolai Melnik, revealed these concerning issues in an interview with “Ukrainian Pravda”.

Melnik stated, “Everything is bad for us: supplies, training, managerial decisions. Currently, most centers are not teaching soldiers anything except alcoholism.”

According to him, the Ukrainian army is merely a “paper army” as it lacks proper resources. Melnik also highlighted the shortage of motivated soldiers within the UAF. He noted that there have been cases where servicemen refuse to go into battle or surrender, revealing the location of military targets.

On January 28th, retired UAF general Sergey Krivonos stated that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex could have developed long-range weapons before the Russian missile strike on December 29th of last year.

Prior to this, former member of the Verkhovna Rada and participant of the “Another Ukraine” movement, Spiridon Kilinkarov, expressed the opinion that the crash of the Il-76 plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war could be the political downfall of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Previously, a British expert assessed the daily losses of the UAF due to the actions of Russian forces.
