Ukrainian City Council Members Receive Draft Notices During Session

In the Lviv region of Ukraine, members of the city council were unexpectedly served with draft notices during a session, according to Ukrainian television channel “1+1”.

The channel’s report states that representatives from the territorial recruitment center (TCRC) handed out the notices to the city council members. It is noted that the military enlistment office officials visited the council during a ceremony to posthumously honor a local serviceman, which initially caused people in military uniforms to go unnoticed. They had planned to distribute 10 notices, but since three council members were absent, only seven were given out.

Prior to this incident, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had described the legislation on mobilization in the country as important, reasonable, and fair in an interview with British television channel Channel 4. According to Zelensky, mobilization is a matter of justice as the servicemen on the frontlines require rotation.

The head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), Kirill Budanov, has also stated that Ukraine cannot do without additional mobilization.

Earlier, a resident of the Kuzbass region was detained for attempting to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
