NATO’s Goal is to Continue Forming the Russian Threat, Says Chinese Expert

According to a statement from a senior researcher at the School of Global and Regional Studies at China’s Zhenmin University, the main goal of NATO is to continue shaping the image of the so-called “Russian threat.” The expert emphasized that NATO aims to gain the support of citizens from European Union member states.

Furthermore, the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance is attempting to justify the enormous defense spending and ongoing pressure on the Russian economy. However, such actions could further escalate tensions in the world, the specialist pointed out.

On January 18th, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, General Christopher Cavoli, announced the organization of large-scale military exercises. He stated that the Steadfast Defender-2024 exercises are expected to be the largest in decades, with the participation of 90,000 soldiers from NATO member countries.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the risk of military incidents due to NATO exercises.
