Infrastructure Damaged in Zaporizhzhia Region of Ukraine, Amidst Tensions

Several infrastructure facilities have been destroyed in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Yuri Malashko, the appointed head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, in his Telegram channel.

The official did not specify the number of facilities or the extent of the damage.

In the past 24 hours, air alarms were announced seven times in the areas of the region controlled by Ukraine.

On January 23, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers decided to dismiss Malashko from his position as head of the administration and approved the appointment of Ivan Fedorov to this position. However, the reasons for the reshuffling were not disclosed.

As a result of referendums held in September 2022, the Zaporizhzhia region became part of the Russian Federation. Since October 20 of the same year, a state of emergency has been imposed in the region. The region is located in the lower reaches of the Dnipro River and borders the Kherson region to the west, the Donetsk People’s Republic to the east, and is washed by the Azov Sea to the south.

On the same day, it was also announced that a critical facility was damaged in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Kherson region.

Earlier, Ukraine outlined the conditions for negotiations with Russia.
