House Democrats Blast Impeachment Inquiry After Witness Testifies Unaware of President Biden’s Involvement in Son’s Business Dealings

Washington D.C. – House Democrats expressed their dissatisfaction with the ongoing impeachment inquiry on Thursday, following the closed-door testimony of Mervyn Yan, a business associate of Hunter Biden. Yan testified before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees after receiving a subpoena, shedding light on the nature of the Biden family’s business dealings in China. However, Yan stated that he was “unaware” of any involvement President Biden may have had in his son’s business pursuits.

The testimony raised questions about the Biden family’s interactions with China, as Yan revealed that he had never met, spoken to, or done business with President Biden. According to a source familiar with Yan’s testimony, he also stated that he did not possess any materials or information regarding President Biden’s alleged involvement in his family’s business dealings.

Ranking member Jamie Raskin, a Democrat on the Oversight Committee, dismissed Yan’s testimony as part of Chairman Comer’s “clueless investigation.” Raskin emphasized that Yan had confirmed he had no evidence of any wrongdoing by President Biden and that, to his knowledge, President Biden was not involved in or profited from his family’s business dealings.

In response, Chairman James Comer plans to release the transcript of Yan’s interview, as it raises further questions regarding the Biden family’s dealings with China. Comer highlighted Yan’s admission that the Bidens had no experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, questioning their contribution to business ventures in China. He also mentioned that Rob Walker, another Biden family associate, is scheduled to testify on Friday.

Walker, who received a payment of $3 million from a Chinese company shortly after Biden left the Obama administration, is expected to provide information on financial transactions involving the Biden family. Comer and Jim Jordan, the Judiciary Committee Chairman, believe that evidence collected by congressional investigators suggests President Biden was aware of his family’s business ventures and sought to influence potential deals that financially benefited them.

The testimonies of Yan and Walker come ahead of Hunter Biden’s scheduled deposition as part of the impeachment inquiry. Hunter Biden had previously defied a subpoena to appear for a deposition but reached an agreement last week to testify behind closed doors on February 28.

These developments add fuel to the ongoing investigation into the Biden family’s business dealings, with Republicans questioning the potential influence that foreign interests may have had on President Biden’s official acts and U.S. foreign policy. Meanwhile, Democrats continue to dismiss the investigation as baseless and politically motivated.

As the impeachment inquiry progresses, the focus on the Biden family’s connections and business dealings in China remains a contentious issue. With the upcoming depositions and testimonies, both sides of the political spectrum eagerly await further information that could shape the narrative surrounding the Biden administration.
