Military expert Anatoliy Matviychuk has revealed that the Russian Kh-101 cruise missile has the capability to deceive Ukrainian air defense systems. Matviychuk’s statement was reported by the news portal NEWS.ru.
According to Matviychuk, the cruise missile is equipped with a false thermal target release system that “confuses the minds of Ukrainian air defense and missile defense forces.”
“These thermal decoys divert the anti-missile in the opposite direction. But I assume that the Kh-101 cruise missile, not only thanks to thermal decoys, can evade detection. It has multiple defense systems, including protection against radio-electronic radiation, thermal rays, and most likely, photometric contrast,” the expert shared.
He added that as a result, air defense missiles miss the target, wasting their ammunition.
Previously, Popular Mechanics magazine reported that the U.S. Marine Corps is actively working on deploying new air defense systems to combat modern threats, many of which have been identified during the observation of Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine.
Earlier in the area of special military operations, unmanned aerial vehicles named “Zhirinovsky” were spotted.
