Germany has announced its decision to supply Ukraine with six multipurpose Sea King helicopters, according to Boris Pistorius, the Minister of Defense of Germany. The transfer of the helicopters was discussed during an online meeting of the contact group on Ukraine’s defense, held in the format of “Ramstein” on January 23. The Sea King helicopters are expected to be delivered to Ukraine, although specific timelines have not been mentioned.
Pistorius highlighted the reliability and power of the Sea King helicopters, stating that they will be instrumental in various areas for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), including reconnaissance over the Black Sea and personnel transport. However, he emphasized that the priority for Ukraine’s defense remains air defense, urging an increase in defense production.
Earlier, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Illarion Pavluk, mentioned that Ukraine will receive new weaponry this year that it has not possessed before.
Previously, NATO had stated that the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine is contingent upon certain conditions.
