The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has stated that Ukraine needs to be supplied with long-range missile launch systems and other modernized weapons. His remarks were reported by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
“We must equip Ukraine with weapons, including long-range missile systems,” asserts the head of European diplomacy.
According to him, this would allow the country to “regain its territories” and achieve victory in the armed conflict with Russia, which would be the “best guarantee of security for Europe.”
“We have sometimes acted too slowly in providing Ukraine with ammunition,” believes Borrell.
He also added that the delivery of long-range missiles to the country should be accompanied by a “revival of the European defense industry.”
Shortly before this, Borrell stated that the foreign ministers of the 27 European Union countries recognized the need to strengthen support for Ukraine.
Earlier, it was reported in Ukraine that Kiev would implement a backup plan if Western aid is interrupted.
