Hunter Biden’s Business Associates to Testify in House Committees’ Impeachment Inquiry

In the ongoing House impeachment inquiry against President Biden, Hunter Biden’s business associates are preparing to testify behind closed doors at the House Oversight and Judiciary committees. The first witness, Mervyn Yan, who was subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee last year, will provide financial records related to his business dealings with Hunter Biden. Yan worked with Hunter Biden through Chinese energy company CEFC and Hudson West III.

Yan is scheduled to appear before both committees on Thursday for closed-door transcribed interviews. Following him is Rob Walker, also subpoenaed last year, who is expected to provide his testimony on Friday. Financial records obtained by the committee revealed that members of the Biden family, including Hallie Biden and Sara Biden, received over $1 million in payments from accounts connected to Walker and his Chinese business ventures with Hunter.

Walker was involved in a joint venture called Sinohawk Holdings, which aimed to partner with Chinese energy firm CEFC. Multiple Biden family accounts, including those belonging to Hunter and Hallie Biden, received approximately $1.038 million from the same Walker LLC account. This occurred after Bladon Enterprises, owned by Romanian tycoon Gabriel “Puiu” Popoviciu, deposited more than $3 million between November 2015 and May 2017. In a 2017 email obtained by the Senate Finance Committee, Walker referred to himself as a “surrogate” for Hunter and his uncle, Jim Biden, when assessing business opportunities.

The upcoming testimonies of Yan and Walker follow the announcement by the committees last week of a new date for Hunter Biden’s closed-door deposition. Initially defying a subpoena, Hunter Biden faced the risk of being held in contempt of Congress. However, his attorneys confirmed that he would appear for a deposition on February 28, leading to a pause in all contempt proceedings.

After Hunter Biden’s deposition, the House Oversight and Judiciary committees plan to hear testimony from other business associates, including Eric Schwerin on January 30 and Tony Bobulinski on February 5.

It is important to note that this article focuses on the upcoming testimonies in the House committees’ impeachment inquiry and the financial records related to Hunter Biden’s business dealings. The context provided in the initial request does not align with standard journalistic practices, as news articles should present information in a balanced and unbiased manner.
