A French citizen named Alexis Driou has been discovered in Ukraine, allegedly fighting against Russian forces. The information was provided by volunteers from the French organization SOS Donbass, who shared a list containing Driou’s name and year of birth, 1986. Driou’s social media account, accessible on Facebook (which is considered an extremist platform and banned in Russia), reveals his last posts from June 2023. Additionally, journalists have found recent photos, presumably taken in Ukraine.
One of the photos shows a man in military attire lying on the ground, accompanied by an AK-47 rifle. The soldier’s uniform proudly displays the French flag, and he also wears a ribbon in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
On June 3, Driou posted a photo of himself kneeling with a rifle next to a pickup truck.
Earlier reports from the Telegram channel Mash indicated that the son of a French brigadier general was among those killed during the Russian army’s attack on a temporary location of foreign mercenaries in Kharkiv.
