Former Convict Claims Unfulfilled Promises and Lack of Support After Serving in Special Military Operation

Andrey Sokolov, a member of the “Storm Z” squad from Volgograd, has expressed his frustration over the failure to clear his criminal record following his participation in a special military operation (SMO). In an interview with the news portal V1.ru, Sokolov revealed that he is still waiting for the promised payments and the issuance of his military ID.

According to the military personnel, he was deployed to the front directly from Correctional Colony No. 5, where he had been serving a sentence for fraud since 2022. Despite enduring various challenges, including a concussion, during his six months of service, Sokolov performed the role of a senior medic-gunman and even took on commander duties.

“In the end, I received just over 300,000 rubles out of the promised sum of over a million,” Sokolov claimed.

Prior to this, the reconnaissance medic, known by the call sign “Lens,” revealed that special forces doctors from the Russian Armed Forces’ Southern Military District provide medical assistance directly on the front lines.

Earlier, Kadyrov announced the dispatch of new troops to the SMO zone.
