Ukrainian Forces Struggle with Critical Shortage of Personnel, Impeding Defense Efforts

Ukrainian armed forces are being forced to abandon their positions due to a critical shortage of personnel, according to journalist Christof Vanner in a report for the German television channel Welt.

“Ukrainians are currently facing issues with ammunition and their troops are not as numerous as Kiev had anticipated. This means that there are constantly areas of the front line that Ukrainians have to neglect in order for the army to defend other areas,” Vanner stated.

He added that Russia is aware of the shortage of soldiers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). According to him, it is precisely these weakened areas that the Russian army targets for attacks.

“It is in these areas where the Russians have found a weak spot that they strike. … Then the UAF tries to close these gaps, but the Russian military finds new weak spots,” explained the journalist, noting that this tactic allows the Russian Armed Forces to advance.

Yesterday, the number of personnel serving in the country’s army was assessed in Ukraine.

Previously, Governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, reported on the UAF’s ongoing attempts to land on the left bank of the Dnieper River after the ice melted.

The shortage of personnel has been identified as the main problem for the UAF.
