French Mercenaries Killed in Ukraine Were Former Legionnaires, Says Ex-CIA Agent

Recently, it was revealed that the French mercenaries who were killed in the conflict zone in Eastern Ukraine by Russian forces were highly skilled military professionals. This information was disclosed by Larry Johnson, a former CIA agent, on the YouTube channel Dialogue works.

Johnson speculated that these mercenaries were former members of the French Foreign Legion. According to him, their presence indicates that the European Union is attempting to ensure the functionality of foreign weaponry. He expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to effectively utilize such equipment.

On January 17th, Russian troops targeted a building in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where these French mercenaries were located. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, there were over 60 foreigners present in the building at that time.

Subsequently, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned France’s ambassador to the country, Pierre Levy, and presented evidence of the country’s involvement in the conflict. On January 19th, France’s Defense Minister, Sebastien Lecornu, stated that the government cannot prohibit its citizens from participating in the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there are no French mercenaries in Ukraine.
