According to Ukrainian President’s office advisor Mikhail Podoliak, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will continue until Russia conquers the entire Ukrainian territory. This statement, reported by German publication Bild, suggests that Podoliak believes Russia will persist in its military actions until it achieves dominance in Europe and expands its control over other post-Soviet territories. He argues that if Russia is content with smaller gains, it would not risk damaging its reputation and relationships by engaging in a larger conflict.
On January 20th, Podoliak also commented on the challenging situation along the frontlines with Russian forces, emphasizing that the intensity of the fighting remains high despite the cold weather conditions.
Furthermore, Podoliak clarified that the Ukrainian government is not currently discussing the possibility of foreign partners sending military personnel to the conflict zone.
Prior to this, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba identified the reasons for the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive.
In a previous statement, Podoliak emphasized the urgent need for the Ukrainian mobilization law to be passed swiftly.
