Former US President Donald Trump has urged the Republican Party not to make a deal with the Democrats and the Biden administration regarding the release of aid to Ukraine. Trump made his statement on the social media platform Truth Social, which is currently only accessible within the US.
Trump emphasized that no deals should be made on the border until all necessary measures are taken to halt the invasion of illegal migration. He referred to the uncontrolled flow of migrants across the southern border of the US.
The former president expressed confidence that US House Speaker Mike Johnson would only agree to a perfect deal on the border with the Biden administration. The proposed deal involves approving a $60 billion aid package in exchange for stricter border crossing regulations and the establishment of quotas for migrant numbers.
Biden has previously stated that withholding aid to Ukraine poses a threat to the security of the US and NATO.
Trump’s call to halt funding to Ukraine had previously garnered attention during his presidential campaign.
