The US military has launched strikes on rocket installations belonging to the Houthi movement “Ansar Allah” in Yemen, according to an unnamed US official cited by the pan-Arab channel Al Jazeera. The attacks targeted the locations of rockets and launch systems that pose a direct threat to commercial ships and US naval vessels in the region. This action was justified as a self-defense measure by the US.
Earlier, the radical Palestinian movement Hamas criticized the United States’ decision to once again designate the Yemeni armed group Houthis, also known as Ansar Allah, as a terrorist organization, deeming it immoral and politicized.
The Pentagon had previously stated that the Houthis still retained capabilities for attacks.
The US has previously accused Iran of preparing Houthi attacks on trade ships in the Red Sea.
