Ukrainian Defense Minister Discusses Military Situation with US Pentagon Chief

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov recently had a phone conversation with the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, where they discussed the situation on the frontlines and the needs of the Ukrainian army. Umerov shared this information on his Facebook page.

“I just spoke with US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin. I informed my colleague about the skilled actions of Ukrainian soldiers… We discussed the current situation on the frontlines, fortification reinforcements, the provision of additional resources for air defense, and ensuring the capabilities of the air force,” Umerov wrote.

He added that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is preparing to repel new attacks.

On January 15, it was announced that US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin had been discharged from the hospital. The department stated that he would continue to fulfill his duties remotely before returning to the Pentagon for full-time work.

On January 9, it was revealed that Austin had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery. Specialists have given a favorable prognosis and expect the minister to make a full recovery, although the healing process may take some time.

Earlier, it was reported how Ukraine is compensating for the shortage of ammunition.
