Ukrainian Armed Forces Launch Artillery Strikes in the Kherson Region

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have launched 60 artillery strikes on populated areas on the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region. A source familiar with the situation informed journalists about this, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“The Ukrainian army carried out 40 artillery strikes throughout the day. As darkness fell, the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted an additional 20 shelling attacks,” the source said.

On the morning of January 17, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian air defense forces had shot down four Vampire multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) missiles and two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the UAF in the Belgorod region.

Prior to this, Vadim Astafyev, the chief of the press center for the “South” troop group, stated that air defense systems had shot down 25 UAF drones in the Donetsk direction. The battles took place in the areas of the settlements of Staromykhailivka, Pisky, Spornoye, Maryinka, and Lyubovoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Earlier, the US acknowledged the failure of the UAF’s counteroffensive.
