Ukraine Faces Depletion of Weapon Supplies as US Aid is Halted

Due to the cessation of American assistance, Ukraine is getting closer to depleting its supplies of certain types of weapons. This was stated by the Coordinator of Strategic Communications in the National Security Council, John Kirby, according to RIA Novosti.

Kirby noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in greatest need of air defense systems. Other types of weapons will last for two to three months, the official added.

It is worth noting that Kirby made his statement against the backdrop of President Joe Biden’s attempts to persuade congressional leaders to allocate a new aid package to Kyiv.

“There are some ammunition supplies that they have in abundance, which will last for the next two to three months. And there are others that they will not have enough for that amount of time,” Kirby emphasized, highlighting that much depends on Russia’s actions and what Ukraine has to defend itself against.

Previously, John Kirby suggested that Western countries may follow the example of the United States and withdraw financial support from Ukraine.

Just days ago, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Washington will continue to support Kyiv despite funding issues.

Earlier, Kyiv accused Western countries of supplying Russia with military components.
