Russian Forces Shoot Down Ukrainian Drones and Rockets in Donetsk Region

In a recent development in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russian air defense systems have successfully shot down 25 drones belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Donetsk region. This information was disclosed by Vadim Astafyev, the chief spokesperson for the Southern Military District.

Astafyev specified that the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were targeted in the areas of Staryi Mykhailivka, Pisky, Spornoye, Maryinka, and Lipove in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Additionally, Russian air defense forces managed to intercept and destroy 13 HIMARS multiple rocket launch system projectiles, Astafyev stated.

According to his report, the combined forces of the Russian grouping in the Donetsk region, supported by artillery fire, successfully repelled five attacks by assault groups belonging to the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 24th Mechanized Brigade of the UAF in the areas of Vesele and Bohdanivka.

The chief spokesperson for the Southern Military District further added that Russian forces inflicted casualties on enemy personnel and equipment near the village of Kurdyumivka.

Prior to this, the Russian Ministry of Defense had announced the destruction of seven missiles and four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the Belgorod region.

Earlier, the Commander of the UAF had acknowledged that Russia possessed an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
