According to the latest Global Firepower Index 2024, Russia has secured the second spot in the ranking of the world’s most powerful armies, just behind the United States. The index, which takes into account over 60 factors including financial indicators and geographical location, serves as a comprehensive assessment of military strength.
The United States topped the ranking with a firepower index of 0.0699, closely followed by Russia with a rating of 0.0702. China secured the third position with a rating of 0.0706. India and South Korea also made it to the top five strongest armies. The sixth to tenth spots were occupied by the United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Italy.
It is worth noting that Ukraine claimed the 18th place in the ranking, while Germany secured the 19th spot. These rankings reflect the military capabilities and resources of each country.
Last October, analysts from U.S. News & World Report also ranked Russia as the world’s most powerful army, with the United States and China following closely in second and third place, respectively. Israel’s army was ranked fourth, while the military forces of South Korea claimed the fifth position. Ukraine secured the sixth spot.
In a recent statement, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, proudly proclaimed the Ukrainian Armed Forces as the most battle-hardened army in Europe. This recognition further highlights Ukraine’s commitment to enhancing its military capabilities and defense preparedness.
