Haley Criticizes DeSantis’ Decision to Campaign in South Carolina Ahead of New Hampshire Primary

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley expressed her disapproval of her opponent, Ron DeSantis, campaigning in South Carolina before the New Hampshire primary. In response to the news that DeSantis, the Florida Governor, was heading to her home state, Haley stated that she does not need to “hop a state.” She emphasized her commitment to campaigning in each state and earning every single vote. Despite welcoming DeSantis to South Carolina, Haley considers his decision to ignore New Hampshire as a mistake.

DeSantis’ campaign surprised many by announcing his rally in Greenville, South Carolina, before heading to New Hampshire, where the first primary and second overall contest in the GOP nominating calendar will take place on January 23, following the Iowa caucuses. Traditionally, Republican candidates transition to campaigning in New Hampshire after the Iowa caucuses. However, Haley believes it is crucial not to disregard New Hampshire in this way.

South Carolina is also an important early voting state, hosting the first southern primary for Republicans on February 24. According to the final Des Moines Register/Mediacom/NBC News poll, President Trump leads with 48% support, followed by Haley at 20%, and DeSantis at 16%. Vivek Ramaswamy, a multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and first-time candidate, garnered 8% support in the poll.

The poll conducted by renowned pollster Ann Selzer is considered the gold standard in Iowa polling. It has a history of accuracy in past GOP presidential caucuses. These numbers reflect the current state of the race in Iowa, providing valuable insights into the candidates’ standings.

Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis have been actively campaigning in Iowa, with Haley making a “big showing” in the state. Both candidates are vying for the Republican nomination and are focused on securing support from voters across the country.
