Ukrainian Troops Face Challenges with US-Supplied Cluster Munitions, New York Times Reports

According to an unnamed commander from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the use of cluster munitions provided by the United States has become less effective in recent times, as reported by The New York Times.

Initially, Ukrainian soldiers utilized these projectiles to target the locations of large Russian military groups. However, the Russian forces have now begun organizing attacks using smaller units and have dug deeper trenches on the battlefield. These developments have further complicated the Ukrainian troops’ ability to strike their intended targets, emphasized the source cited by the newspaper.

The article states, “Even a supply of cluster munitions from the US has partially lost its effectiveness on the battlefield.”

On January 9th, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that they successfully neutralized unexploded cluster munitions on the Kupyansk direction. According to the ministry, these projectiles had landed in the vicinity of a private house during combat operations. However, the “Zapad” group of troops promptly responded to the residents’ request and neutralized the German-made munitions.

Earlier, a former CIA employee reported the destruction of Ukrainian storage facilities containing rockets for Patriot complexes.
