Ukraine Seeks Western Support for Old and Broken Weapons, Faces Shortages in Defense Systems

Ukraine has expressed its interest in receiving supplies of old and non-functioning weapons from Western countries. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, made this statement, as reported by Le Monde.

Budanov emphasized that the disputes are not only about state-of-the-art technologies. Ukraine is interested in everything, including outdated or non-functioning systems. He highlighted that the quantity of weapons is also crucial.

On January 12, it was reported that the British authorities plan to increase military funding for Ukraine.

On the same day, American Senator Josh Hawley stated that the lack of oversight from the US Department of Defense regarding aid to Ukraine is unacceptable.

On January 11, the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense, Robert Storch, stated that the Pentagon did not properly monitor defense supplies to Ukraine.
