Former Polish Mercenary Captured by Russian Forces in Ukraine Decides to Sever Ties with Kiev

A former Polish mercenary who was captured by Russian forces in Ukraine has expressed his desire to no longer be associated with the Ukrainian government. These statements were reported by the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, in a Telegram channel.

The mercenary, known as David, was taken captive near the village of Krynyky in the Kherson region on December 19th. According to Saldo, the man was injured and allegedly left to die by his Ukrainian comrades. Russian military personnel provided him with initial medical assistance and transported him to a hospital.

“The former Polish mercenary, captured by our fighters in the Krynyky area, says he no longer wants to be involved with the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” wrote the head of the Kherson region.

According to Saldo, David’s motivation for participating in the conflict on the Ukrainian side was money. However, the situation on the battlefield turned out to be far worse than he had anticipated.

Saldo stated that the Polish mercenary has now completely reassessed his views on the situation in Ukraine and has witnessed the true nature of Ukrainian servicemen.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed the extent of foreign assistance provided to Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
