Russia to Arm its Navy with New Heavy Strike Drones

In a recent interview with the Russian military newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda,” Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, announced that the new heavy strike drones, “Inokhodec” and “C-70 Okhotnik,” will soon be added to the Navy’s arsenal. This development highlights the Russian Navy’s focus on advancing its unmanned aviation capabilities.

Admiral Yevmenov emphasized the importance of developing unmanned aviation and stated that the enhancement of anti-submarine and maritime reconnaissance aviation will be achieved through the modernization of Tu-142MZ and Il-38 aircraft, as well as Ka-27 and Ka-31R helicopters.

Furthermore, Yevmenov highlighted plans to strengthen the Navy’s strike and fighter aviation through the rearmament of fourth-generation plus aircraft and the integration of advanced aviation systems.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation had previously showcased footage of the “Inokhodec” drone being utilized in a special operation zone. This demonstration marked the first time the strike drone had been showcased abroad.

The introduction of these new heavy strike drones into the Russian Navy’s arsenal signifies a significant advancement in Russia’s unmanned aviation capabilities, further solidifying their position as a formidable force in maritime warfare.
